The Pop-up Project
The Pop-up Project is a non-profit dance and production company.
We believe dance is a powerful and inclusive form of self expression that leads to authentic human connection.
Our mission is to build a thriving community through dance education, artist development, and collective effervescence - transforming the Chattanooga region into a place where people experience more joy, belonging and wonder.
Our vision is to reach 1 million people through dance by 2030.
Our programs include site-specific performances and films that are inspired by real stories within our community. We shine a light on the amazing visual and performing artists in Chattanooga, and we spark joy through moving together with our outreach program providing 500+ kids with dance classes every week.
The Pop-up Project was established and founded by Jules Downum and Mattie Cofield in Chattanooga, TN.
The Pop-up Project is an equal opportunity employer and provider of services. We do not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of our activities or operations.
We believe that difference makes our organization stringer. Our artists and audiences come from all walks of life and from a variety of backgrounds. The Pop-up Project respects, celebrates, and reflects the diversity that positively contributes to our community.
