Events

The Pop-up Project events bring people together to celebrate and showcase the work that we do, provide community resources, and amplify the different voices we have across Chattanooga.

B.L.A.C. FEST

B.L.A.C. Fest (Black Legacy of Arts and Culture Festival) is a Black History Month weekend celebration (Feb 20–22, 2026) honoring the creativity, history, and cultural impact of Black artistry.

This year’s theme, Framework, looks at the structures that shape Black creativity, identity, liberation and how art can challenge what limits us and build what comes next.

Expect a multi-disciplinary lineup: Art CHATT: Framework (reception, live jazz, featured visual art, Providence preview, and a panel + audience Q&A), Providence | Beyond the Frame (dance that translates Black visual art into movement, with talkbacks and mix-and-mingle), and Stories in Frame (short film screening + filmmaker Q&A).

B.L.A.C. Fest matters because it creates a visible, connected platform for Black artists across disciplines and invites Chattanooga to show up for the legacy and the future being shaped in real time.

PRIMAVERA

Primavera is The Pop-up Project’s annual spring community block party and culminating performance that brings together youth dancers from our program partners in one shared celebration.

Expect performances from our students and Teaching Artists along with music, games, food, and community partner booths offering resources for families in English and Spanish.

Primavera matters because it turns our outreach work into a public moment: kids get a real stage, families get connected to local support, and the neighborhood gets a free, welcoming event built around joy and access.

FROM WITHIN

From Within is The Pop-up Project’s annual Teaching Artist showcase through an evening of original choreography where the artists who teach across our schools, community centers, and Studio34 share the work that lives at the core of their artistry.

Expect intimate, story-driven performances (often solos and small group pieces), plus a chance to connect with the artists and the wider Pop-up Project community.

From Within matters because it centers our Teaching Artists and builds visibility for our local dance makers.

RAZZLE DAZZLE

Razzle Dazzle is The Pop-up Project’s annual fundraiser performance! Our big, once-a-year night to celebrate our students and Teaching Artists on a main stage and directly support free dance education across Chattanooga.

Expect a high-energy show plus options to deepen your support through the VIP Reception (connection, stories, light refreshments, and your performance ticket included).

Razzle Dazzle matters because it’s a public celebration that helps fund the work you don’t always see like weekly classes in schools and community spaces while giving young dancers a professional performance experience.
